Distant Mountain Range
Rising above the clouds, looking northwest from the peak of Mt. Nyukasa, you can see the peaks of the South Yatsugatake (lit. 8 peaks range) volcanic mountain range, which is alpine in nature with very steep slopes. The volcanoes erupted thousands of times between 600 and 800 years ago, with the highest peak, Mt. Aka, standing at 2,899 m (9,478 ft). They eroded over time and with the eruptions of Mt. Fuji ongoing, Mt. Fuji became the highest peak in the country at 3,776 m (12,388 ft).
